Who we are
Founded in 2014, the Association of Filipino Scholars in Taiwan (AFST) is an organization composed of undergraduate and graduate students, researchers, teachers, and short term research scholars, who are working or have worked in Taiwan. Most of our members are recipients of different scholarships including the Taiwan International Graduate Program, MECO-TECO Scholarships, Taiwan University Scholarships and other private company scholarships.
Our Mission
We aim to create a network of Filipino experts in various fields of the sciences, engineering and humanities. We also aim to represent and support the interests of Filipino Scholars in Taiwan by providing avenues for personal and professional growth and development through interaction with fellow Filipino and international scholars.
Our Vision
To be an association that advocates and enriches the intellectual and cultural discourse among its’ members in pursuit of academic and professional excellence to be leaders in research and development and frontlines in their field of expertise. To be involved in fostering cooperation with other student organizations, government agencies (MECO and TECO) and local and international professional societies.

AFST participated in the 2016 Filipino International Researchers, Scholars, and Trainees Symposium (FIRSTS) held last February 9, 2016 at the Far Eastern University Manila.
2016 FIRSTS was hosted by the Alyansa ng Nagkakaisang Iskolar sa ibang Bansa (ANIB), which is composed of the Association of Filipino Students in Japan (AFSJ), Pinoy Iskolars sa Korea, Inc. (PIKO), and AFST.
