Research Forum

The AFST Scholars’ Forum is an academic gathering of Filipino scholars in Taiwan, in which they present their research in a constructive, encouraging and collaborative setting.  As part of AFST’s mission “to provide avenues for professional growth through interaction with fellow Filipino and international scholars,” we hope that this activity provides an academically enriching environment for Filipino scholars in Taiwan to present and discuss their research work.

In addition, this forum will bring together Filipino scholars to interact and collaborate with each other and with other international scholars, thus serving as a professional networking platform.

We invite all Filipino scholars in Taiwan to present their work.  International scholars are also welcome to join us.

The topics for this first forum include, but are not limited to, the following research areas:

  • Biological and Health Sciences

  • Physical and Earth Sciences

  • Engineering

  • Social Sciences and Humanities

  • Business Management and Economics

Filipino International Researchers, Scholars, Trainees Symposium

Filipino International Researchers, Students, and Trainees Symposium (FIRSTS) was well attended this year and will be held for the second time in 2016. It is a project of Alyansa ng mga Nagkakaisang Iskolar sa Ibang Bansa (ANIB), the first alliance of Filipino organizations of scholars and researchers based outside the Philippines, which is composed of Association of Filipino Students in Japan (AFSJ), Association of Filipino Scholars in Taiwan (AFST) and Pinoy Iskolars sa Korea, Inc. (PIKO). Recognizing the importance of higher studies to the overall progress of the Philippines, this event primarily aims to promote higher learning through international graduate programs in outstanding institutions abroad. The following are the specific objectives of this event:

  • To promote international graduate studies by sharing first-hand experiences as students/researchers and presenting scholarship opportunities overseas

  • To disseminate successful and/or ongoing projects/researches of current students and alumni

  • To create a stronger, interdisciplinary network of researchers, professionals, and students in the Philippines and abroad.
